This pretty circular trail takes in several sights of interest in Saas-Balen and its surroundings, and can also accommodate pushchairs. The trail starts at the village square and follows the Saaser Vispa river along the valley, passing the Fellbach stream with its impressive waterfall.

After passing the hamlet of Niedergut on the outskirts of the village, the path crosses the cantonal road and heads back in the direction of Steinschlagwald forest.

After a small woodland section, the path emerges back out into the open and leads across lush meadows to the beautiful round church of Saas-Balen - an absolute must-see.

This church was built between 1809 and 1812, but has been rebuilt many times over the years, mostly thanks to Father Johann-Josef Andenmatten.

From the round church it is only a short walk back to the village square, with good bus connections in all directions. #Note(s)# Pay attention to the Postbus bus timetable *¶ So lake ¶ Saas-Fee/Saas Valley Tourism Obere Dorfstrasse 2 CH- 3906 Saas-Fee Phone: +41 (0)27 958 18 58 E-mail: info@saas-fee.ch Internet: www.saas-fee.ch equipment * Good footwear * Weather dependent clothing: always carry a waterproof jacket with you. * Headgear * Sun protection * Water bottle * Binoculars (optional) * Camera * Hiking poles (optional) * Map/ printout of the trail (click on "Print" to download)
