Expert hike-to terrain accessed from the top of the challenger and headwaters lifts.
Series of generally north facing chutes oriented E/W along the ridge.
Chutes are transected ~1/3 to 1/2 of the way down by a less-erosive rock formation known as “the buttress”, where the chutes typically become very narrow and navigation can become difficult.
Terrain here characterized by numerous unmarked hazards, extremely steep terrain, variable snow conditions, and large cliffs (and that’s just the hike!).
Know where you’re going! Second Fork is past First Fork, start to climb again until you reach the top of the ridge here is the entrance to Second Fork.
Make sure to visually access whether or not the entrance is skiable as it can be rocky in which case you would want to ski First Fork.
This run will put you at the Elbow and into the apron.
