Description

The Far Side is the easternmost terrain that is open at Squaw Valley in Shirley Canyon.

It is skier's right of Land bridge, below the top of Broken Arrow.

It faces north and follows a ridge line with too many options to list here.

The Far Side is accessed through gates 7 or 8.

Exit the Tram and turn left around the pool and head down Shooting star adjacent to Bailey's Beach.

From the base of Bailey's Beach chair follow the Mountain Run for a very short distance until you see an opening in the rope line on your left.

Go through the opening and keep your momentum to avoid walking in this flatter ridge area.

Follow the ridge until you reach a gate 7 sign on your left.

Traverse right watching for rocks and when you reach the ridge line work your way down.

You can also ride Broken Arrow chair and turn left off of the top, The Far Side is right below you.

Ski down the ridge and turn left where you please to join Land Bridge to get to the base of Silverado.

You can also follow the ridge further north with perhaps a little walking, until you cross the chair line with a steeper option down to the end of Land Bridge.

There are options off of The Far Side, just be sure not to cross the ski area boundary line on the right.

You need to be a solid black skier who can handle steeps, and negotiate around rocks, etc., to have fun on this trail.

It's best to go with someone who knows the area well for your first few times.

Pay attention to the rock and cliff warning signs and to any directional arrows.

This run ends at the base of Silverado Chair, which is a long, slow, triple chair.

Silverado doesn't open until there is a fair amount of snow because of the very rocky terrain that needs to get covered with snow to make it passable.
