Expert hike-to terrain accessed from the top of the challenger and headwaters lifts.
Series of generally north facing chutes oriented E/W along the ridge.
Chutes are transected ~1/3 to 1/2 of the way down by a less-erosive rock formation known as “the buttress”, where the chutes typically become very narrow and navigation can become difficult.
Terrain here characterized by numerous unmarked hazards, extremely steep terrain, variable snow conditions, and large cliffs (and that’s just the hike!).
Know where you’re going! The Elbow, bottom of the Forks this is one of the most beautiful spots on the mountain.
Here you have 3-6 technical turns through a narrow slot which puts you non to the apron; here you can open it up again.
