Description

The Hospice is an ideal location for many different day tours.

There are obvious objectives including the Weisskugel at 3739m.

This is a big day but rewards you with a view of Venice in the far distance, and is the second highest peak in this range.

More realistic for many would be the excellent lower summit of Langtaufererspitze, described here but there are other shorter outings eg Kreuzkogeljoch.

From the Hospice follow the long valley to the W, then SW leading onto the Hintereis Glacier.

This is a slow gentle ascent which steepens and turns onto S facing slopes at about 3050m, leading to the summit at 3529m.

There is a choice of descents, either down your line of ascent which might be spring snow if timed right, or steeper variants to the E or to the N, returning to the hut.
