The Pinzgauer Walk is one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the Eastern Alps with an exhilarating view of the ice peaks of the Hohe Tauern. During the whole tour, the Salzach valley, which lies approx. 1000 m lower, lies at your feet. Above it, well-known peaks such as the Großglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn, the Granatspitze, the Sonnblick and the Großvenediger tower high.

Description

The traditional name "Pinzgauer Stroziergang" (Pinzgauer walk) is, of course, a great understatement because the trail runs from Schmittenhöhe to Bürglhütte near Stuhlfelden and is over 20 km long (without descent).

We limit ourselves to the route Schmittenhöhe - Hochsonnbergalm (Uttendorf). Over the Kettinglam we hike on a well marked path, without exception on the south side of the Kitzbühler Alps to the west.

During the whole hike you have a wonderful view to the Tauern Main Ridge, with Glockner Group, Granatspitz Group and Venediger Group.

A detour to the summits of the Kitzbühler Alps (with a beautiful view of the northern limestone Alps) is possible everywhere.

Below the Medalkogel, a red-white-blue marked path branches off to the Hochsonnbergalm (open to the public - refreshment stop) - Liebenberg Asten and on to Uttendorf.

We can also continue hiking and descend to Uttendorf at the summer gate via the Viertalalm (no hut available) (path no.

10 - ÖAV 747). equipment
