Description

A wide open slope with lots of space for everyone to leave their track on a powder day.

This is one of Courchevel’s classic off piste runs and as a consequence there can be a sizeable queue of people waiting for the chairlift to open after a snowfall! The line is easy to scope out from the Chanrossa chairlift - from the top of this or the Roc Merlet chair cut under the top of the Chanrossa chair and traverse right (or for an easier entry ski the first steep pitch and rightwards path of the Jean Pachod red run and then head out skier’s right). The first pitches get up to about 35º but after that the slope is gentler - perfect for opening up the throttle.

As you drop down you can keep pulling right, just be aware of the couloirs dropping in from the Plan Mugnier ridge above you which do occasionally slide, and watch out for rocks early in the season! Lower down you can either cut back skier's left to the bottom of the Jean Pachod piste and Chanrossa chair or keep pulling right and rejoin the lower part of the Creux piste.

If you keep traversing right you will end up at the wind lips (congères) which give this run it's name - just be aware that if you keep traversing further right still you will end up above cliffs! It is also possible to access this end of the face by a long, high traverse underneath the Equinox face (at you risk & peril!).
