Description

From Achenkirch to Steinberg OR from Steinberg to Achenkirch! From the hotel terrace you can see almost the entire ascent route.

Cross the valley at the "Sportpension Geisler" until you reach the bypass road, cross it and you will already see the markings in the direction of Kaiser-Maximilian-Rast or Köglalm.

You can take the comfortable forest path, which leads slowly uphill in wide serpentines, or after about 300 m you can take the hiking trail, which takes you steeper but faster to your destination.

After approx.

1 hour hiking you reach the Kaiser-Max-Rast, a small lake with a viewing bench, which offers you a truly imperial view of the valley and lake.

From this "sovereign" resting place you need about half an hour to the Kögl-Alm.

You cannot pass the Kögl-Alm (1431 m) without a break, even if you are not hungry yet, the "Selberbrennnten", you have to test it.

From the terrace of the Köglalm you have a wonderful view to the west into the ski area CHRISTLUM, perhaps the many wide downhill runs will entice you once in winter into our valley.

The local mountain of Achenkirch, the Seekarspitze with a proud 2,053 m looks from here also no longer so difficult.

A visit of the ibexes in the Karwendel is always very rewarding. Strengthened in this way, you hike up behind the hut to the Köglsattel for about 50 metres, but then keep to the left, i.e.

north, until you discover an ombrometer.

The safest way is to follow the tracks of the mountain bikers.

After approx.

20 minutes easy descent from the saddle you reach the Schönjochalm (1290 m).

If you haven't eaten anything yet, it's worth a stop here. Follow the forest path until you reach the feeding station for game, then after a few minutes you will reach a bridge where you have to watch out, because the Gfaßkopfweg (No.

2 or large Gfaßkopf roundabout) branches off to the left here and leads up again at the beginning unusually.

The view of the back of the Rofan massif becomes more impressive with every minute.

Alternating over clearings, forest paths, steep paths through dense young forest you walk eastwards until the majestic Guffert appears in its width in front of you.

Then it goes through a ditch downhill, towards the small 300 soul village Steinberg.

The Gfaßkopfweg ends at the valley station of the Rofan lift.

There you can wait for the regional bus to Achenkirch. This hike also has its charm in the opposite direction, above all you will not be under time pressure on a bus! equipment
