Description

From the hotel you go in northern direction over the new Unteraubach bridge into the Unterautal.

Only moderately ascending you hike on the forest path in the nature park Karwendel on the tracks of the stone oil burners.

The Unteraubach remains your companion for half an hour.

At the end of the valley there is a wooden hut where you leave the road which winds up to the right in serpentines to the Klein-Zemm Alm and Gröbenalm.

But our way narrows to a trail and leads after 5 minutes over the Unteraubach.

Now it is time to put in the "first cross-country gear"; the path leads very steeply uphill in short hairpin bends.

After approx.

100 m you cross a road coming from the Hochstegenalm.

Once again the trail climbs steeply up through sparse mixed forest in a channel, you pass a hunting lodge, cross a multi-armed stream and suddenly have two decaying scattered huts in front of you, then the terrain becomes gentler, the pastures of the Moosenalm begin.

Also the first chance to see chamois opens up.

Only 5-6 weeks pasture here cattle, who are looked after by a Sennerpaar.

The last few 100 meters lead steeply up to the road that comes from the left (east) and leads to the hut - Moosenalm (1495m). In the period from 10 July to 20 August, the Moosenalm serves as the elevator of the Kögelalm.

Not far from the hut, which nestles firmly against the slope for fear of avalanches, you can often hear marmots whistle and watch them play happily.

If you want to get closer to the chamois or even watch ibexes, you have to climb west of the alp at the foot of the Schreckenspitze behind the Christlumkopf.

On an idyllic saddle you will most likely meet a chamois pack or some ibexes. If you leave the Moosenalm to the right, walk a few 100 m along the road to the left towards Gföllalm, then a marked path leads up the embankment to the right, which is much shorter and more beautiful.

At the ski slope you cross it and orientate yourself by red wooden poles, slightly falling until you find markings at the forest again! Now through sparse young forest down to the road leading from the valley to the Gföllalm. The Gföllalm (open from mid-May to the end of October) is known to many guests from winter, but in summer Hilde and her granddaughter Kathrin spoil the returning hikers - their apple strudel is legendary.

Probably the best between Hamburg and Rome! The descent into the valley, accompanied by magnificent views of the lake and the Rofan Mountains, can be made on the green slopes or on the leisurely driveway.

Recently the Riederbergstüberl is open in summer and surprises with ALMMILCHEIS - heavenly! After less than an hour you are back at the hotel. equipment
