Description

This is essentially a longer version of the Seefeld 3 Hikes trip and is ideal for beginner riders who want to enjoy some scenery and solitude without any technical riding. The trip is drawn here starting and finishing at the Seefeld Tennis Centre carpark, but it's an easy ride from anywhere in the village to the start of the trail proper.

Seefeld is well connected to larger towns in Austria and Germany by a good train network, so this trip is easily doable using public transport to access it. From the Tennis Centre ride up some lovely suburban streets and then onto a smooth track in the forest.

Follow this as it climbs up, using our line and (whenever you see a signpost) signs for Mösern to navigate.

The track winds in and out of the forest and is a pleasure to ride.

Other than a (slightly random) couple of gates, there are no obstacles and the riding is fun and easy.

Follow the track uneventfully to where it reaches a road and then head up this to the (usually dry) Lottensee lake.

There's a charming hut (the Lottenseehütte) which serves great food on the west shore of the lake.

Head north-east from the lake on a good track which passes along the edge of the Seefeld Wildmoos golf course.

At the far end of this lies the course's driving range and a junction where you need to turn left to continue this route or (if you've already had enough and want to get quickly back to Seefeld) right to reach the Wildmoos Alm.

Descend down past the golf course once more and then branch off the track just before it reaches the Interalpen Hotel Tirol and ride down a bumpy track to join a road just east of the village of Buchen.

Ride along the road (which is peaceful, winding and not a chore to ride at all) before reentering the woods at a small bridge.

Follow a lovely track to the fascinating Leutasch fishery, which is a great place to stop.

Those who speak good German might consider asking one of the employees to show them how the fishery system works but regardless it's an interesting place to wander round. From the fishery nip down into Oberweidach village then almost immediately leave it and climb up into the forests underneath the Leutasch ski lifts.

Continue climbing up and then roll down easily to the Wildmoos Alm - the final landmark on the route before reaching Seefeld.

In a strong field, the Wildmoos Alm might just be the most fun and welcoming hut in Austria - the owners are incredibly friendly and as soon as you arrive you'll start having fun.

Grab a seat on the terrace, order some food and enjoy the ambience.

Make sure to check out their huge collection of football memorabilia too! When you're ready to head down, simply roll down a tarmac road back into Seefeld.
