Description

Accessed by Panoramic Lift via Village Way, Belle Fourche is not open very often, but when it is, it has some of the best steep, gladed, scenic powder turns on the mountain! On Village way, coming down from the top of Panoramic Lift, there is a gate on the left about halfway down.

The trail is above treeline at the top, and that snow cover may be spotty and windblown, but once you dive into the trees lower down, you’re starring in your own Warren Miller movie! Deep snow is deposited into those trees by the wind.

You will hit Upper Egress (a narrow traverse in the woods) and come out at the bottom of Eagle Wind Lift.

Belle Fourche means “beautiful fork” in French, and they got it right when they named this tree-skiing area.

The view from the top will take your breath away! You stare right at the couloirs of the Cirque! This is pretty much patrolled backcountry.

It’s been bombed for avalanches before the ski patrol opens it, but bring a buddy and water at the very least.

On a scale from 1-5 on a huge powder day, Belle Fourche gets a 10!
