A shallow face that opens into a wider bowl, West Ridge Chute B is not really a chute.
It is more of a narrow face between treed ribs.
Access by hiking the Throne just pass the Southback gate at the False Summit.
Look for the tree island close to the ridge, which marks the entrance to the chute.
This is a great double black diamond for non-experts willing to hike the ten-minute bootpack.
Trees on the skier's left of the chute/face hold snow well, making it deeper.
This run is not as steep as the chutes higher on the ridge and it is also much wider.
Watch for the traverse track below the trees as it opens to the wider bowl below.
Once into the bowl, non-experts should avoid the cedar bench, directly below Chute B as it gets steep and rocky and often requires mandatory air.
Veer right or left for consistent turns to the bottom of Chair 6.
