Description

The steep bowl in Southback between Silver King and The Throne, Avalanche Basin offers classic double black diamond terrain.

Access through one of the Southback gates.

Hiking and some traversing is required.

Once outside the gates, hazards are not marked.

These hazards include but are not limited to cliffs, trees, deep snow, cornices, avalanches, and rocks.

The wilderness on the west side of the ridge leads to a closed highway.

If rescue is necessary outside of the Southback controlled area, you may be charged.

Ski patrol recommends that you ski and ride with a partner and carry proper avalanche equipment.

Avalanche Basin is an avalanche prone area.
