FATMAP difficulty grade
Starts at Dalwhinnie where you cross train track and continue along by Loch Ericht past Ben Alder Lodge.
The North section up the River Pattack is optional but scenic and requires crossing some footbridges.
The Culra bothy (may be closed due to asbestos, advisable to bring a tent instead) is nestled at the West end of this route and surrounded by boggy ground and ample good ground for camping (perfect for midge spotting).
Mountain biking is an ideal way to gain quick access to the many munros: Ben Alder and Beinn Bheoil making one good day; and the four to the North of Culra Bothy making a ridge from Beinn Eibhinn to Carn Dearg as a second day.
