Description

"####Itinerary Departure from the village of Les Bossons behind the SNCF station. From the Bossons to the Houches dams, take the pleasant, shaded, relatively flat track on the right bank of the Arve, but also frequented by walkers and other users on foot and on horseback. Shortly before reaching the dam, find a paved road, follow it until it intersects the road going up to Coupeau. Start the ascent towards Betttey.

Follow the paved road for about 400 m (2 pins).

50 m after the 2^e take the left track. One or two short passages when pushing the bike. Reach Le Grand Clot 1203 m and continue along a track to Morand 1267 m Find a relatively easy path and reach the Bettey at a car park at 1352 m. Follow the paved road to its terminus (La Flatière) and find the steep track on the right and then the track on the left leading to Samoteux 1450 m.

Go up on the top of Samoteux, leave on the left the path for Montvauthier and take on the right another path in the direction of Pierre Blanche. Cross a remarkable area of peat bogs and shortly after a short climb follow the path towards Chailloud (beware of several paths in this area). Arriving on the road / track of Chailloud, go down a little and very quickly on the left take the path indicated Lac Noir. Reach the small Black Lake from above and continue towards Merlet. Nice rolling downhill crossing.

After a short (steep) climb.

Follow the path and then the road bypassing the Merlet Animal Park from below (the top bypass is not driveable). Follow the unpaved road and find a path down towards Chamonix shortly before entering the park. The first part is quite steep, pass the Lapaz torrent and after a passage of roots the route becomes more pleasant.

A few passages of rocky steps. Reach the intersection with the road leading directly to Les Bossons around 1200 m.
