Beautiful winter hike in a corner not far from the resorts but nevertheless wild.

Description

##Ascent Go up towards Val d'Isère and park at the Villaret du Nial (1825 m).

Follow the path towards the Saut dam to reach hill 2108 m (IGN/3532ET) where the few stones of a ruined chalet are located.

From there, follow the shoulder to the Horse Plan Cross. Through a steeper but easier passage, you can access the lake of the Plan du Cheval which you follow towards Pointe de Picheru: be careful, this area is ideal for avalanche departures.

We can go to the E of the Lake and avoid this area. The ascent to the top is first done by a first ramp at about 35°.

It can also be bypassed by making a hook through the S and then moving N towards a flat area.

Then lift a shoulder between the screes (maximum slope 20°) to reach the base of the top.

Go along the base of the summit towards the N.

Two routes are still possible at this level depending on the degree of snowfall and fatigue: - Go straight up the first corridor oriented W (slope at 55° - 100 m altitude difference) and quickly reach the top along the summit ridge. - Make a lace to approach the top by the N ridge then the top ridge. [img=390756 right no_border no_legend/] ##Descending Go down from the top following the N ridge and then the N side. First take the direction of the chalet du Santel then turn towards the chalet de la Sassière in order to follow the softest slopes of the slope. Go along the Barrage du Saut by the S shore, taking care to stay on the side and then descend the road until you reach the starting point. ####Variant A possible variant is to go down from the summit to the Picheru Passage and then to join the valley of the Sassière and the lake of the Sassière to follow the road until you reach the other route.

_This Adventure has been shared under the [Creative Commons Share Alike](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/) licence._
