www.hikedolomites.com - This hike starts about 10 minutes by car from Cortina d'Ampezzo (on the road to Dobbiaco-Toblach) in particular from the Fiames Olympia Camping area.
Here you must leave your car and take path number 417, a large path into the woods. After less then 1 km, take on your left path 408 that goes steeply on the slopes of the Col Rosà, a mountain of modest size (mt.
2,166) and part of the group of Tofane.
Col Rosà ring is a good idea in case of bad weather because there is not any dangers in case of rain or thunderstorms. 400 mt of positive height difference into the wood until Posporcora pass and from there a pleasant wooded descent between streams and bridges that takes to the valley of Fanes after about 2 hours of hike.
There, reached the locality of Ponte Alto (Ponte Outo in local language), wear harness, safety lanyard and anti-rain jacket for the "Lucio Dalaiti" short and easy Via Ferrata.
This is usually the first via ferrata kids do, so no particular difficult here, but of course prudence always needed. The path goes through waterfalls and canyons, really enjoyable, with a suggestive passage under Fanes waterfall.
The Rio Fanes here is beautiful and certainly deserves a visit if you are in the area of Cortina.
This is a hike that more than others approaches canyoning and allows you to discover the Ampezzo valley from another point of view.
The Dalaiti waterfalls path does not last more than 30'-40' and then you will be back to the starting point of Ponte Alto. From here, in about 1,5 hour of comfortable mule track (path number 10 until Dolomiti Park Office, then 417) downhill through woods and meadows this ring will bring you back to your car to the parking lot of Fiames.
