Description

Black Coal is slanted expert bump run through the trees that ends on Upper Egress.

The trees get thicker as you descend.

Before the Eagle Wind Lift opened in 2006, this area was called “Backside Parsenn,” and it was open through a gate when snowpack allowed.

It was a vast area of gnar-gnar backcountry tree-skiing and riding, with some trees just barely wide enough to navigate.

Many pairs of goggles were scratched up back there! Even today, there is no cell phone service, so don’t head back there unless you're ready for the backcountry.

Black Coal is the name of an Arapahoe Indian chief from the 1800s.
