Description

A steep but shallow couloir that opens into a broad basin below, False Summit Right offers a challenging alternative to Summit Chute.

This chute is steep, but the entrance is straightforward.

Watch for the traverse track that runs across the top of this slope.

This slope avalanches regularly and can be rocky.

A Gazex exploder marks the left border of this run.

Below the narrowest part of the chute, False Summit Left opens into Powder Bowl for a total of 850 vertical feet.

At the bottom, catch the traverse track towards Bear Pits for another 500 vertical feet.

Alternately, join the Lucky Shot groomer to the base of Rainier Express.

The only downside of riding Upper Field is that it takes two chair rides to get back to the top to do it again.
