Description

Pee Wee's is a gnarly extreme zone between Mountain Quail and Dihedral Chute in the upper part of Black Iron Bowl.

It is accessed from the Palmyra Peak hike-to access off Prospect Express chair 12.

While avalanche controlled it is an area of serious consequence and all back country precautions must be taken.

The hike up gets steep and conditions dictate where is best to drop in.

Usually a cornice forms across the top of the bowl and the drop in should be carefully considered.

The face of Pee Wee's is usually a snow loaded crest that falls away to rock outcrops and spine cliff chutes.

To the right it bowls into a wide chute with one major cliff and a super steep pitch.

Straight down it splits to three fall line spines to cliffs separated by two narrow chutes each with its own obstacles.

Lots of line options are high risk and full control in any snow condition is necessary to tackle this zone.

Once past the cliffs it's a consistent double black pitch into Prospect Basin navigating around the flat areas to avoid skating or post holing efforts back to the lift.
