FATMAP difficulty grade
A popular broad face offering 900 vertical feet, Upper Field is the main run in Powder Bowl.
Access from the top of Chair 6, veering to the skier's right at the top.
The easiest route on this steep face can be found on the right near Divider.
The left side, closest to the rib that borders Princess, offers steeper gullies.
The snow below these gullies is often less tracked up.
When snow levels rise, these gullies often fill nicely.
This slope avalanches regularly.
Watch for avalanche debris.
At the bottom, catch the traverse track towards Bear Pits for another 500 vertical feet.
Alternately, join the Lucky Shot groomer to the base of Rainier Express.
The only downside of riding Upper Field is that it takes two chair rides to get back to the top to do it again.
