Via ferrata equipped in 1986 as part of the celebration of the bicentenary of the first ascent of Mont Blanc. It is not really a via ferrata in the literal sense, but rather an aerial path (n°4) equipped with chains and a few metal steps. A single step at the very beginning of the via is equipped with bars and a cable. Nevertheless, this is a very beautiful itinerary that allows you to climb Mount Chétif and enjoy beautiful views of the Mont Blanc massif and the upper Valle d'Aosta.

Description

**Access** Dolonne, park in the parking lot of the Palais des sports. **Approach ** 30 minutes A sign (trail #4) indicates the start of the trail.

After crossing a meadow, enter a forest where the trail is divided into three branches.

Take the central branch.

Rise through this forest to a climbing site (short equipped routes).

Continue on the left of this cliff for about 100 m flat until you reach a sign that indicates the path to follow on the right.

The path then rises quickly to the beginning of the via ferrata: a right-hand crossing equipped with chains. **Route ** 2 to 3 hours to the top Follow the chains to the right and then cross a short jump (2 m) equipped with a cable and bars (the only ones in the whole track).

The track is then very well marked with yellow dots.

Alternate portions of easy trails with passages equipped with chains with also some steps carved in the rock or metal.

It is never difficult or really aerial.

Some beautiful views of the upper Valle d'Aosta, the Grandes Jorasses and the Dent du Géant. At 2250 m, we reach a crossroads with the path coming from Pré de Pascal.

Turn left (SW) onto the path leading to Mount Chétif.

It crosses towards the W under the summit tower of Mount Chétif on slopes steep enough to reach the path coming from Curba Dzeleuna (path n°5).

Follow the latter eastward to the top of Mount Chétif where there is a concrete platform and a little lower, a large statue of Queen Pacis overlooking Courmayeur. **Descent ** Follow path n°5 to reach the ski lifts of the Courmayeur ski resort, then the TMB path (n°2) to reach Dolonne.

_This Adventure has been shared under the [Creative Commons Share Alike](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/) licence._
