Historical note: It was the headquarters of the resistance maquis (Henri Barbusse) in 1943/44 and their leader (Julien Panchot) was executed there on August 2, 1944 by German troops.

##Access from Perpignan Follow the RN 116 to Vinça, follow the direction of Valmanya and reach the Palomere pass (1036 m) where you park your vehicle. ##Ascent From the pass climb the concrete track and take a path to the left (J/R markers) that leads to a track.

It is the old railway line that connected the Pinouse mines to the Formentere pass to carry iron ore.

Follow this royal road until you reach the old Pinouse mines. Climb vigorously up through the ruined buildings following the yellow markings.

Unblock on the nearby ridge of the Puig de l'Estelle, ##Return Follow the whole ridge down to the old Batère tower.
