Description

The original tech trails on S-Mountain, [Unkle Nazty and Sand Dunes](https://fatmap.com/routeid/31826/Arkansas_Hills_Tech_Ride:_Unkle_Nazty_and_Sand_Dunes), have been joined by two new school technical challenges: Hooligan and El Duderino.

Built by the accomplished trail building company Singletrack Trails, these two gnarly descents in the Arkansas Hills Trail System have quickly become local favorites. Hooligan was the first of the two new tech trails to be built.

Hooligan descends from the junction of Pauli and Unkly Nazty and empties out into the Sand Dunes trail, thus incorporating portions of the old school tech lines into this new mountain bike ride.

This new descent drops quickly down the mountainside, funneling through gnarly rock gardens and over exposed slabs of rock.

Some of the rock roll features boast impressive exposure that could spell serious injury if you mess them up.

While Hooligan is well-regarded as a tech trail, this new school singletrack features a plethora of air opportunities, from kickers to gaps, step down drops, big ledge drops, small doubles, and more.

Combining chunky rocks with air opportunities creates a unique and challenging ride quality! El Duderino cranks the exposure and tech-gnar up to 11! The signs for El Duderino warn other trail users that this trail is designed for expert-level downhill mountain biking *only*.

El Duderino contains several *massive* rock roll features that should be considered no-fall zones.

The most significant feature of the entire trail is a massive rock berm on top of a cliff, with a tight, exposed entrance and a drop-filled rock garden as an exit.

While the turn is built to keep the rider somewhat safe, flying off of this corner could be deadly.

Exercise extreme caution! Between the major features, El Duderino is a constant onslaught of boulder-filled rock gardens and steep fall line sections of trail.

At the time of this writing, El Duderino is considered a double black diamond trail, but the difficulty will only get more intense as this singletrack erodes over the years.

Undoubtedly, more rocks will protrude as the soil is worn away, turning this into one of the burliest trails in Central Colorado. You’ve been warned.
