Description

Starting at the tennis centre in Seefeld, the day begins with a gentle, almost flat hike through forests and fields.

After 20 minutes or so the path climbs up and right up to a holiday village.

At the far end of the village is a large parking area on the right.

Walk through this and carry on into the woods for a couple of minute to Möserersee - the first lake you’ll reach on the hike.

Circumnavigating the peaceful lake only takes 10 minutes and en route you pass an excellent restaurant which serves fish fresh from the lake. Once back at the point where you first came to the lake branch off right and descend briefly to the peaceful village of Mösern which enjoys a superb view of the Bavarian Alps.

From here make a long, undulating (but mainly uphill) traverse into and then through forests all the way to a road.

Turn right and follow the road for 15 minutes to what is sometimes the second lake (the Lottensee) but is often a dried up hollow.

Occasionally there is some water and it looks like a lake but don’t be at all surprised if it is completely dry.

Like Möserersee there is an excellent restaurant (the Lottenseehütte) to eat at next to the “lake” if you want to stop. Carry on walking on the road, which soon turns into a jeep track and heads into the woods.

Follow the jeep track through some beautiful forests and some tranquil clearings until you reach the third "lake" (which again, is often dry) and one of the finest mountain restaurants you are ever likely to encounter - The Wildmoos Alm.

The welcome at the Alm is incredibly warm and the whole hut is full of various memorabilia of Europe’s best known football teams.

Enjoy the extraordinary hospitality and hearty food before beginning the descent to Seefeld which vaguely follows a road but nips into the trees on several occasions.

In high summer there is a bus which runs every hour from the Wildmoos Alm to Seefeld.
