Description

Lower Brand X Cliffs are a series of cliffs and couloirs for experience experts.

Four shallow couloirs spread across these cliffs.

The first two end in a rocky apron.

During big snow years, these are skiable.

The first couloir is heavily treed and is the least often explored.

The third entrance to the cliffs is the most straightforward.

Steer either slightly right or left just above the trees to avoid a rocky apron.

Continue through the nice glade below to Northway Run.

The last main cliff can be identified by the cable hanging above it used by the ski patrol for avalanche control.

This is the most defined couloir, and it narrows down quite dramatically in the bottom half.

It saves the most challenging section for last, where the rocks squeeze together just above the tree line.

Thanks for frequent avalanching, the trees below have stayed more open here than elsewhere.

Beyond these four cliffs are a few other freeride options described elsewhere.

Note that once through the gates to Northway, cliffs and other hazards are not marked.

This is avalanche prone terrain.

Carry the proper equipment and ski/ride with a partner.
