Description

NW Slot is a classic Cascade couloir for expert skiers and riders.

From the top it looks more challenging than it actually is.

The narrowest part of the chute is wide enough to make turns, however, since it veers slightly right out of view, you are fully committed before you see the end.

The fall line is consistent and the overall vertical is 650 feet.

If you're lucky enough to be at Gate 2 when the ski patrol drops the ropes, head slightly right towards this glorious couloir.

A buttress lying just right of the center of Northway Bowl separates NW Slot from the main bowl.

Head towards that buttress and keep it on your left side.

The couloir tightens here and veers slightly right.

After about 100 vertical feet, the chute opens to a nice apron below.

This is where it also joins Missing Finger Chute.

At the bottom of the bowl join up with Northway Run to the bottom of the chair for another lap.

Note that once through the gates in Northway cliffs and hazards are not marked.

This is avalanche prone terrain.

Carry the proper equipment and ski/ride with a partner.
