Description

Park at the White Pine trailhead 4.6 miles up the Little Cottonwood canyon on the right.

Follow the summer trail/road grade and contour around through the woods into Red Pine canyon.

Continue up Red Pine canyon into the upper reaches where you'll see the lake.

Continue up around the E side of the lake, then aim for the ridge that gains the upper ridge to the W.

Follow it, but be careful as it gets steep and can be avalanche prone.

So be sure to travel it in safe conditions.

Once you're on the ridge you'll be able to see the mighty Pfeifferhorn and its S and E flanks.

Follow the ridge towards the peak.

There is some scrambling along this ridge that can be a bit sporty in lean snow years.

Continue on and gain the summit via the SE ridge.

From here there are some great lines off the summit, or you can retrace your steps for the mellowest descent.
