Description

This is a nice open glade that gets deep snow.

Spook is one of the easiest runs in Northway, so it is a good one for advanced skiers ready to challenge themselves in Northway.

Note that once through the gates, few hazards, such as cliffs, rocks and other concerns are marked.

All of Northway is avalanche-prone terrain.

Ski and ride with a partner and carry the proper equipment.

Thanks to prevailing winds and a mellow slope angle, Spook Hill holds snow well.

Unfortunately, this is a popular run and gets skied quickly.

If you're not one of the lucky few through Gate 7 first when the ski patrol drops the ropes, you will just get sloppy leftovers.

But if you find yourself at the top of Spook on a slow day with some fresh snow, then you're in for a joy ride.

The upper section is mellow, and unlike its neighbor Horseshoe Cliffs, does not suffer from any cornices.

After the first few turns, Spook Hill steepens up.

The trees begin to tighten up here, which usually constricts the tracks.

It is possible to work right into the trees for some untracked lines.

Skier's left, however, butts up against Horseshoe Cliffs and quickly gets very steep.

Follow the main gut of Spook Hill 400 glorious vertical feet to meet up with Otto Bahn.

Stay on Otto Bahn to the bottom of the Northway Chair.
