Description

A long undulating run that starts in an alpine bowl, includes some steep faces, and ends in a treelined gully, Northway is one of the easier black diamond runs in this terrain.

Starting at Northway Notch, drop into the far left side of Northway Bowl.

This short shot gives you a feel for the longer, and steeper, Northway Bowl to your left.

As the bowl flattens out, continue along the drainage towards the chairlift.

When you cross under the chairlift, watch for rocks on the steep face below.

This is the most challenging section of Northway.

It is often scoured and can be icy.

If the snow directly under the chair has been scraped clean, work your way to the trees on the right.

This narrow section is often full of moguls, but offers more protection and the snow lasts longer here.

Below this crux-y section, the trees narrow and the run becomes defined easily.

This lower angle section offers great turns on a powder day.

Otherwise, it is often full of moguls.

Just before the Northway trail meets up with Otto Bahn, look for the turn off to the left.

It is a narrow cat track.

Follow this trail back under the lift and continue in this gully past the runout of Brand X.

Watch for the creek, which may be open in early season.

Follow around the corner to where Northway meets with Otto Bahn.

This last face after these two pistes join is almost always icy and scraped clean.

It's best to stop above and access the slope before charging around this blind corner.

On a busy day, the lift line can extend to here.
