Description

Trestle Shot holds a bunch of lines around an old mining trestle that is great for photos.

Located in the middle North West aspect of Alta Lakes Basin above the Observatory, this area is perfect for mini hikes of around ten to twenty minutes, especially when avalanche conditions are high and it's good to stay away from risky faces.

There is a variety of short tree runs of varying pitches plus a couple of spots to build a backcountry kicker and lake view areas for picnicking.

There is no patrol so backcountry safety applies even in the mellow tree lines.

Snowmobiling is not uncommon during long weekends and holidays so shared area use and respect goes a long way to enjoying this part of the San Juan Mountains.
