This is an amazing route that offers great view over the lake and the surrounding mountains, but it still requires some (basic) alpine skills and a decent shape.

Description

The hike starts in Gaino, near Toscolano Maderno.

It is pretty hard to find the path (the are not many signs) but once you find it, it is quite easy to keep the track. The first part is characterized by steep slopes in the forest, which take you quickly under the peak of Mt Pizzocolo.

The last 300 meters d+ of ascent are more complex and require some basic alpine skills (be careful especially in winter because you can find snow and ice).

Anyway, there are fixed metallic ropes in the more exposed parts of the path. Once you reach the peak, you can come back to the start (I suggest reach the "Spino pass" and then take the trail to Gaino) or you can keep on walking and explore the other tail in the area.
