Description

This is a classic alpine bowl accessed through the Southback Gate.

Three peaks dominate the Southback terrain Three Way Peak, Silver King and The Throne.

Silver Basin sits between Three Way and Silver King (known locally as "The King").

The Southback area is considered "controlled backcountry." Avalanche mitigation is done to the notch below Three Way Peak, but the snow often does not get enough compaction from skiers and riders and can be avalanche prone.

There are no hazard markings in the Southback terrain.

Cliffs, cornices, tree wells, deep snow and avalanches exist.

Avalanche equipment is recommended.

Ski and ride with a partner.
