Description

A long hourglass couloir that opens into a wide bowl, Hogdoggle is a good run for first timers venturing into Southback.

There are several ways to access the wide upper portion of Hogdoggle.

The easiest entrance is from the upper Southback gate at the summit of the Throne.

Enter the gate and traverse across the front of SE Throne Right until it opens into a broad chute that faces the King.

Hogdoggle starts here and curves to the left before straightening out above Avalanche Basin.

This couloir is wide enough for non-experts to make turns.

A rocky buttress on the skier's left and a line of trees on the right make this chute feel more challenging than it actually is.

Alternative access can be found by entering through the first Southback gate and traversing around the back of the Throne.

A narrow entrance to Hogdoggle can be found at the top of the Avalanche Basin ridge.
