Description

The Gimmeln blue run is perhaps the most popular in the resort, thanks to its wide sweeping turns and gently rolling terrain.

Be careful not to miss the right-hand turn on to it from the Hindenburg piste - look out for the red sign about 200m beyond the Schiltgrathusli mountain hut. Once you have found the start of the run, follow a narrow cat track which leads towards the T-Bar and the main slope.

A left turn will take you to a fairly steep slope that forms the start of the main run - beginners should take the gentle path cut round the side to avoid the steepest section.

Here is the perfect place to crank out some wide turns, especially as the piste is generally immaculately groomed.

You then continue to wind down towards the bottom of the T-Bar, with a couple of options available - meaning finding fresh corduroy is possible even in the afternoon.

Once at the bottom stop for a coffee on the sunny terrace at the Gimmeln restaurant before choosing to take the T-Bar back up, or the Wintertal down to the Schiltgrat chair.

This run is now host to a new terrain park - the Skyline Snowpark, which is designed by the same people who built the world famous Penken Park in Mayrhofen.

Sadly poor snow conditions in 2014/2015 limited the number of jumps that could be built, but when the snow allows (snowmaking will be installed here in the coming years) some big jump and rail lines will be in place.
