Description

This trail is great for a group of mountain bikers that have a mix of experienced and beginner mountain bikers.

There is only one climb that is worth mentioning, however riders are pretty much either going up or down short rollers throughout the entire ride. Either direction works for this trail, although the customary direction is clockwise.

I prefer this direction because there is one tight curve on the long climb and riding clockwise it will be on the ascent.

This makes the descent on the other end of the trail sweet and fast with no momentum killers.

But just to make sure you don’t miss anything, I’d ride it both directions. After heavy rains there can be a couple wet crossings but there is a bridge over what would have been the deepest crossing. After a short ride from the parking lot riders reach the intersection of two separate loops, referred to as the North and South Loops.

Each loop is a little over four miles so this gives cyclists the option to shorten the ride. In addition to the trail being designed to utilize the undulating terrain of the Ozark Mountains it also takes cyclists on a twisting turning roller coaster adventure through a dense forest.

At times the trees are so tight it will challenge your skills and nerves. During leaf off there are also some scenic views of Lake Bennett. This is one of the trails Arkansas is adding to their state parks in their plan to make them a destination for cyclists both in and outside the state. Located within the Woolly Hollow State Park there are restrooms, campgrounds, and a swimming area.

Great place to spend a few days.
