8 km long cultural trail opens up the pilgrimage church in Hessenthal and the cultural monuments of the centuries-old Streif property as well as Mespelbrunn Castle, so symbolic for the Spessart.

Route description:The starting point of this cultural trail is the Guest House at the Maximilian Kolbe Church in the modern part of Mespelbrunn.

From here the route leads along the Elsava to the pilgrimage church Hessenthal.

The place is documentary since 1293 a place of pilgrimage and is also home to the grave of the Echter of Mespelbrunn until 1600.Bergan via the Way of the Cross one arrives at the station "Herrnbild".

The Herrnbildkapelle once lay at the confluence of the early medieval "Salzweg" (from Worms) and the "via publica" (to Würzburg).

At the top you walk up to the Wagnerstor, the entrance to a Streifengut.

Descending into the Langen Grund you pass numerous well-preserved dry-stone walls as well as vertical reading stone walls along the property boundaries.
