FATMAP difficulty grade
A classic in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps that requires a stable ratio and high snow conditions.
The start is at the old bob run of Schlehdorf, of which only the start and finish house can be seen.
The first few metres of the tour take you comfortably along the forest road towards Herzogstand/Heimgarten.
After a striking rock breakthrough that we pass on the Forsstrasse, we leave the forest road opposite the sign to the Herzogstand and follow a Rückegasse of the track.
From now on, we walk a few meters through the forest until we reach the forest road again at an altitude of 1100m above sea level.
We follow this in the further course of the tour in southern direction.
After a bend, the view becomes unobstructed of the wide Northkaar of the Heimgarten.
At the end of the forest road over the small brook and through light forest and past beautiful big mountain maples on the left side of the Rauchköpfel.
Once you have overcome this level, the entire ski area becomes visible.
The tour continues in a southwesterly direction up to the Heimgarten ridge.
You leave the Kar below the steep channel to the left, the steep channel is only passable in good conditions.
Once one has reached the ridge of the Heimgarten, it is only 10 minutes to the summit, either directly over the ridge or over the Heimgartenhütte.
From the summit you can enjoy the great view of the Karwendel or the foothills of the Alps.
The descent is similar to the ascent.
The steep channel is reserved for experienced skiers only.
In the forest area the descent takes place on the forest road.
