Description

This stage of the ARBERLAND round can be aptly described with the title "short and crisp".

Hochbergstraße begins immediately behind the Bayerisch Eisenstein railway station (tour start).

On this gravel road you go first up to the Hochbergsattel and then down to the Schwellhäusl.

On the way to Zwieslerwaldhaus there is only a small hill to master.

Here you can take a short break, because from now on there is a long and steep ascent (600 m altitude difference) up to the Großer Falkenstein.

This section of the tour runs most of the time on asphalt and a longer piece of gravel.

On the Falkenstein you can enjoy a wonderful view over the ARBERLAND, the mountain hut invites you to linger.

The way back is first on the road section known from the ascent, then after about 2 kilometres turn right onto a gravel road that leads uphill for a short time.

Half of the course has not yet been reached, but the greatest strains have been overcome.

After a comfortable piece of woodland the descent to Buchenau begins.

From here it is only a stone's throw to the drinking water reservoir and the destination Frauenau.
