Description

The starting point for the Schwellhäusl round trip is the hiking park in the centre of Bayerisch Eisenstein.

Follow the Bussard sign across the village square and a short climb up the Hohenzollernstrasse to the local railway museum and cross the railway tracks in the direction of the forest.

After the Vitalpark turn right into a gravel forest road.

After about 100 metres, a 2 kilometre long forest path leads beran to the Hochbergsattel, before it goes downhill again.

At the lowest point of the hike, the excursion restaurant Schwellhäusl is reached on an idyllically situated clearing island.

The way back to Bayerisch Eisenstein, past the Iron Cross below the Johannisruh nature reserve, runs through woods.

In the core area, there is a rule of the marked paths, i.e.

the marked paths must not be left, especially in winter, in order to protect stress-prone animals such as the capercaillie.
