Description

Multitalent forest workersThe forest workers in Wombach and Rodenbach were not only engaged in forestry, they also had to rely on a sideline to secure their livelihood.

The forest management, agriculture and working in the quarry were part of the everyday life of the forest workers.

Directions: The approx.

10 km long cultural trail begins at the church in Wombach.

From here you hike up to Karl-Neuf-Platz, a former quarry, after the closure of which a viewing platform was built on the overburden.

The reforestation, however, has impaired the view in recent years: you walk through the shady forest on a steep descent path through a romantic little valley to Rodenbach.

Worth seeing here is the baroque church.

On the way between Rodenbach and Wombach, the end point of the circular hike, an information board provides information about farming on small plots of land.

The strong population increase after the Thirty Years' War and the Mainz inheritance law meant that the farms were divided with each generation.
