The Tannheimer Tal has been well known among cyclists for a long time, because in 2001 the Tross of the Österreich Radrundfahrt (Austria Cycling Tour) went through the valley.
In 2005, the cycling pros of the Bavarian Tour came to Tyrol for the opening stage of the tour and were rewarded with the Tannheimer Tal mountain classification and the Jungholz mountain classification.
And even professionals noticed the scenic charms of the "probably most beautiful high valley in Europe".
Rich green meadows, the Haldensee lake and a beautiful mountain scenery accompanied the cycling pros on their competition kilometres.
And so the Tannheimer Tal has also been praised as an ideal region for targeted training or extended tours.
"The Tannheimer Tal is an ideal starting point for long racing bike tours to the surrounding regions such as Lake Constance or the Arlberg," says Michael Keller, Managing Director of the Tannheimer Tal Tourism Association and former Austrian national mountain bike trainer.

- The Tannheimer TalHow to find us:Start at the tourist information in Tannheim, heading west towards Schattwald.
At Schattwald begins a 1.5 km long ascent up to the former customs office Oberjoch.
After a short descent turn right at the crossroads towards Unterjoch.
Continue towards Jungholz, turn right at Pfeiffermühle and climb up to Jungholz.
Follow the road through the village and enjoy the beautiful exit and at the crossroads turn right towards Wertach.
Turn right at the traffic light crossing in Wertach.
In Reichenbach turn left towards Gschwendt and Haslach.
After Haslach cross the main road and via Faistenoy to Wertach.
In Wertach turn right and via Kranzegg and Rettenberg to Burgberg.
Continue to Sonthofen, turn left at the traffic-light controlled intersection towards Oberjoch/Reutte, drive through Binswangen, Reckenberg, Vorderhindelang to Bad Hindelang.
Here follows the ascent over the Jochpass, with a max.
gradient of 9%, to Oberjoch.
In Oberjoch turn right at the crossroads and follow the main road to the starting point in Tannheim.

It should be noted that there may be an increased risk of accident and injury in racing cycling.
Despite careful route planning, a basic risk always remains.
A tour preparation by endurance sport, appropriate training and advanced training as well as personal prudence reduces the danger of accidents and the risks.
