Description

Welcome to Whistler Alpine's classic and famous straight line run aptly named 'The Coffin'.

This is a fast line which requires full commitment from the time you drop in until you shut down your speed below.

Take any of the Whistler Bowl entrances, high traverse to skiers right to the cliffs left of Whistler Cornice.

A short side step or bootpack up just underneath Peak Chair toward it's pylon, puts you on top of your line and in full view of everyone on the chair.

The standard entrance into Coffin requires a side slip down skiers left of the chute before making an Airplane jump turn into the belly of the chute.

Many will choose to air from the top of the chute over a 4 - 8ft rock.

Once in the chute, all you can do is point your skis and enjoy the acceleration! Do NOT attempt to turn in the cute! Once clear of the rock faces either side (50-60m is the total length of the chute) make a LEFT turn out of the bottom to shut down your speed.

Make this turn slowly as you do not want to add to that day's entertainment on Peak Chair as another Tomahawk out of The Coffin.

Turn Right out of the bottom and you will most likely lose it over a wind lip.

Once skied you'll want to feel the same buzz over and over again! - A big chest puff at the bar is totally deserved.

Air size into The Coffin depends on snow coverage.

This line is skiable most of the season as soon as some small rocks in the chute are covered.
