Short stretches of road and forest paths through woods take you to the house where you were born. In between, the trail also leads over meadows, which bloom beautifully especially in spring. Especially at Christmas time the Christmettenweg in the Waldheimat is a popular family hiking destination. In winter it shows quite clearly the efforts the Alplers made to attend the service.

Description

In his story "In der Christnacht" from the famous book "Als ich noch der Waldbauernbub war" Peter Rosegger describes his first walk to the Christmas mass from the Kluppeneggerhof down to St.

Kathrein am Hauenstein.

The path that the Rosegger family took every Christmas Eve, often during storms and snowstorms, is still followed today in memory of the great son of the Waldheimat at Christmas on a guided torchlight hike.
