Description

From Mondsee to Wartenfels (2 ½ hours)From the tourist office Mondsee (this is located between the market place and the lake promenade) you walk through the Lindenallee to the lake promenade, then turn right for a short distance next to the main road until you reach a department store on the left where you take a path that leads to a crossroads. Now straight across the main road and through the settlement "Höribachhof" uphill, later downhill, across the Fuschler Ache, keep right at a fork and immediately turn left again to a farm.

Through the farm and the sheep and goat gate uphill through a forest towards Obernberg.

Immediately above, a forest road branches off to the left and immediately afterwards to the right into a forest path, which leads moderately steeply uphill to Wartenfels.

From here you can climb up to the castle ruins of Wartenfels in ten minutes - a magnificent view pays off for this short effort.

For hikers who are free from giddiness and sure-footed, there is a great round tour here: First you go up to the castle ruins.

From there there is a steep climb up to the particularly panoramic Schober (1,328 m), which is secured with wire ropes in the summit area.

The descent is the easier path over the Frauenkopf, which leads back to Wartenfels.

Special care must be taken when it is wet on this circular trail.Wartenfels to Fuschl am See (1 ½ hours)The trail leads through the forest, later over meadows down to the Fuschlsee lake, which can be reached at the Hotel Waldhof.

Now turn left along the lake to the town centre.
