Description

This hiking route is an impressive descent through a wild rocky landscape.

From the Welser Hütte to the Almtaler Haus (2 ½ hours)From the Welser Hütte on trail 215, the trail first leads down lawn steps, then follows a short rock face, which is climbed using ladders and rope protections.

Afterwards we go down in the Kar in many bends, on the left side the enormous rock walls of the Schermberges are to be seen and on the right side the striking northwest edge of the cross.

Finally one reaches the end of the Kares and the so-called foundation walls of a very steep and exposed cliff wall.

The bottom of the valley is reached via a very long ladder and subsequent rope securing at the Wiesbauerband at the bottom station of the material ropeway.

3.5 kilometres on a wide and flat driveway, the Almtaler Haus is reached.

The Almtaler Haus is an alpine club hut and belongs to the Wels section.

From the Almtaler Haus to the Gasthof Jagasimmerl (1 ½ hours)From the Almtaler Haus a narrow and 6 km long road leads out along the rushing stream into the Almtal, which can be reached at the Gasthof Jagasimmerl.

This route can also be covered by taxi and there is also the possibility to make a very rewarding detour to the two Ödseen lakes at an additional cost of only 30 minutes.

The Ödseen lakes are located east of the hiking trail and can be reached in a short time on well signposted paths.

Especially from the Großer Ödsee one has a magnificent view to the north face of the Schermberg.
