Description

At 2,995 m above sea level, the Dachstein is the second highest peak in the Northern Limestone Alps.

Although the Dachstein is not a "real three-thousander", it has long since become a Dachstein brand, at the latest since UNESCO included the Dachstein mountain landscape with Hallstatt and the Inner Salzkammergut in the list of "World Heritage Sites" in 1997.

Beginning in the northwest at the Gosausee, continuing at the foot of Gosaukamm and the Dachstein south walls to Ramsau.

From there you hike one floor higher over the glacier to the east to the Guttenberghaus and on to the Stoderzinken.

Through the Notgasse and Viehbergalm, the lonely plateau is crossed northwards in the footsteps of pilgrims as far as the Salzkammergut.

On flat paths, always along the Traun the Salzkammergut is walked through, passing Bad Aussee, Obertraun, Hallstatt and Bad Goisern.

And last but not least the Kalmberggebirge with the Goiserer Hütte is crossed on the way to Gosau.1.
