Description

With an altitude of 2,702 m above sea level (above Adriatic Sea), the Waldhorn is not only one of the highest peaks of the entire Niedere Tauern, but also one of the most impressive due to its massive appearance.

The tour is in any case something for real mountain enthusiasts, without alpine experience one should better not tackle this tour or one should join a mountain guide. Especially impressive are the steep flanks of the French horn - especially in the west down into the Inner Lämmerkar.

Already the ascent holds true pearls in store - be it the Riesachsee early in the morning or the breathtakingly beautiful Kapuzinersee below the Waldhorntörl. The descent can be done via the same route.

However, a short detour across the wide embrasure and into the Klafferkessel is recommended - as described in this tour.
