Description

Starting point for this hike is the Kirchenplatz, direction Edelkastanienwald (chestnut forest) (here you have the opportunity to follow the forest nature trail towards Jubiläumsbaum), continue on the bypass road, after 200 m turn left at Bauernhof, continue at the edge of the forest, after the game enclosure turn left to Gausthaus Druckerhof and from there continue to the nature reserve Egelsee (Moorsee, Orchideen und carnivorous Pflanzen).

The frequent change of woods and meadows, numerous vantage points and the idyllic Egelsee make this hike an experience.

Arrived at the dark moor lake, we are rewarded with an attractive landscape and a special view of the western Höllengebirge.

624 m above sea level, the high moor lake is 105 m long, 65 m wide and up to 7 m deep.

The Egelsee lake owes its formation to the last ice age and is surrounded by botanically valuable sedimentation zones.

The presence of six insect-catching plants and twelve species of orchids alone reflects the diversity of the flora.

The way back takes place on the already known route.
