Description

The ascent of the Großvenediger is one of the most famous and rewarding mountain tours in the Eastern Alps.

The ascent from the north, via the route of the first climbers, offers great scenic impressions.

A two day glacier tour on the highest mountain of Salzburg, the Großvenediger 3.666m, for which one should definitely take a mountain guide.

On the first day you ascend independently to the Kürsingerhütte.

The approach through the approximately 13 km long Obersulzbach valley can be shortened considerably by the hiking taxi.

At the material cable car of the Kürsingerhütte you have the possibility to either climb up the normal path, the so-called "Klamml", to the hut, or follow the path towards the glacier lake and climb up to the hut on its northern shore via the Kürsinger Klettersteig.

(Attention: here you need a climbing harness with a climbing set and helmet!) The next day you start with the mountain guide early in the morning.

Still in the glow of the headlamps it goes direction glacier entrance.

This is where the ropes are roped up and, if necessary, crampons are also fitted.

Now it goes in even gradient, past mighty crevasses towards Venedigerscharte.

The last meters to the summit cross lead over an airy snow ridge.
